Bento for 12.09.08

Bento for 12.09.08

Who says you can't have breakfast for lunch?

Both get a stack of mini pancakes, rolled egg, bacon and sausage with a sauce bottle full of maple syrup and butter. (I hope the butter won't harden and go yucky)

Husband gets sugar snap peas and red peppers, marshmallow treat, granola bar and mixed nuts.

Sassy gets a marshmallow and a fruit string. Also a tangerine, I added that one in later.

I took the plunge, I ordered a bento box! I don't know how often I'll do it and I need to learn and all that, but I'm excited. Even if I start slowly, I think it'll be great for my portion control. Thanks for being the inspiration :)

Does rolled egg mean Tamagoyaki?

these are served cold?

I am new to all this and some items are surprising to me to have cold

JoMamma - I read it I read it!

Patricia - Hooray!! Show us the booty!

Nobu - Hai! Tamagoyaki desu! (*^.^*)

Eillismaura - Well, we have them cold, but all of the bento boxes have microwavable bottom tiers, so if you wanted you could microwave them before eating. It was weird at first eating cold rice, but it's quite nice really once you get over the foreignness of it. I'm working up to cold noodles, which are common in Japan but I find a bit too unusual as yet. It's all a process of appreciating the new and it's very exciting!

sorry, allow me to correct - all of OUR bento boxes are microwave safe. Not all bento boxes are, however.

My bento boxes from Ichibancan are all micro safe, but not dishwasher safe. I still have the best results with my metal bento placed on my coffee cup warmer for an hour. Just the right temp!
